First Post!

First and foremost let me say, that if you came here from my link on an animal rights or veganism board - this blog has now changed. I have linked here to refer people to my link list, but currently I'm doing an overhaul of my blog and changing what it is about, or at least somewhat.

Now, I'd like to briefly go over the things I will be writing about in this blog. You see blogs that are on all kinds of subjects. Mine will now be a mix of all those things I love. What things? Well, I've found that in my life I'm currently trying to balance doing a number of things that sometimes are hard to do while trying to accomplish all of them. For instance, it's sometimes hard to be frugal when you're trying to eat clean (this deals with fitness and bodybuilding) and also being vegan. There are also times where being an environmentalist makes it hard to do certain things that are frugal.

All in all, I'm just trying to get things together and learn to balance all aspects of my life which is proving to be a little tougher than I expected. It's hard balancing being a gym rat/fitness buff, a vegan, a frugalista, an animal rights activist, an environmentalist...and most importantly a mother, a wife. I'm not saying I'm perfect, nor am I striving to be. But I'm just trying to figure out exactly how to make it all work.

For now I'd like to give a quick overview of some of the frugal/green things I've done since the beginning of the year. I keep tabs on frugality as well as my eating habits and other areas of my life in my daily planner so that I can look back and remind myself that juggling it all is NOT impossible...just hard work! But I'm only going to list the frugal/green activities for now :)...

- "Recycled" expensive vacuum bag
- Made homemade soup
- Handwashed one load of dishes
- Finished replacing all bulbs with CFLs
- Insulated my son's windows, still need to add shrinkwrap.

January 2, 2008
- Handwashed one load of dishes
- Left lights out and instead used candles most of the day.
- Made birdfeeder out of random "throw away" items.
- Ate leftover soup.

January 3, 2008
- Turned off water heater for 5 hours. (I won't be doing this again as I've been advised it could be problematic with bacteria growth. I will, however, turn the water temp down to 125 degrees)
- Ate leftover soup and finished off leftover Mexican casserole
- Made notebook out of paper used on only one side.

January 4, 2008
- Made my first 2 loaves EVER of homemade bread - and they weren't gross!
- Left lights off most of day.

January 5, 2008
- Hung dry one load of towels.

- Fixed quite a few things in my home with the hot glue gun.
- Made Christmas gift tags out of silver Nordstrom's bags.
